Ray Rice, Donald Sterling, and You.

13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
Hebrews 4:13

There are a few things that stood out to me yesterday as I watched a discusting act of violence towards a woman. The number one thing I think about is a question - What if there were recording devices that could record all of your actions, your words, and your thoughts?

The scary thing for you is that there is.

Every last one of us (including the author) has failed in thought, word- and many in deed- at even keeping societal codes much less than the law of an omnipresent and omniscient God. That means that no one- no thought- no deed- evades the watch of God. Lying lips are an abomination to Him (Proverbs 12:22) and we will be judged by Him for every casual word that we have spoken (Matthew 12:36).

The scary thing is the viceral reaction, the judgement that is thrown down on these people who sin and get caught. We have sinned and yet we look down in judgement on these people who get caught, and their sin is made public. Look at Paul's Letter to the Romans:

Romans 2 Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. 3 Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? 5 But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed. He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking[a] and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. 11 For God shows no partiality.12 For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. 13 For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. 14 For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law.15 They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them 16 on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.17 But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God 18 and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law; 19 and if you are sure that you yourself area guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— 21 you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? 22 You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law.
Are you innocent or guilty before God?

None of us will escape the judgement of God- He does not care if you are a billionaire or a professional athelete. He does not care if you get caught while you are here on earth. You are already under condemnation (John 3:18) unless you have repented and turned to God's Salvation in Christ Jesus.
Do not be fooled, no one will escape His justice. It is based upon His law, which does not change with the culture or society. He is not going to judge you based on man's opinion, He is going to judge according to His law and his holy standards- which you or I cannot live up to. That is why we need a Savior. The only Savior is Jesus Christ.
It is up to you, God will either be your judge or your Savior. If you have heard his voice, you will respond- or you will try to get into heaven by your own goodness, or by some other way. The reward your religion is hell. The reward for your good works is hell- and you and I deserve it.

But you can get everything you don't deserve based on the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Do You Know What Your Kids Are Into Online?

The dangers of the internet include more than pornography and predators. This story from Wisconsin illustrates this:

According to court documents, the girls plotted for months to kill their friend to curry favor with Slender Man, a character in horror stories they read online. They told investigators they believed Slender Man had a mansion in a Wisconsin forest and they planned to go live with him after the slaying.
The girl who was found mentally incompetent hosted the other two at a May 30 slumber party to celebrate her birthday. The next morning, the two girls attacked the victim in a wooded Waukesha park. The other girl told investigators that she told the victim to lie down and be quiet after the stabbing so that she would lose blood more slowly. The girl said she hoped to convince the victim to be quiet so the victim would not draw attention to them and would die.
Not every child that goes online will become a killer. However, as parents we should be concerned with the things that our children are looking at and engaging with on the internet.

What parents need in this internet generation is filtering and updates as to the websites that their children are spending time on. It is also important to restrict certain websites- and not just on the desktop at home- on all their devices.
