Thinking as a Christian in Politics
The Christian worldview is all encompassing. What this means, simply, is that the mindset of a Christian is one that must be consistent across all walks of life. Obviously, our Christian mind should not be left outside of the voting booth. The purpose of these writings should not be interpreted as the practical theologian telling you for whom to vote. The goal is to get you to carry your Christian Worldview into the land of politics.
One more thought: There is no man or woman alive who can save us, or save our country. In order for our country to be saved, individuals must believe on Jesus Christ. This means that individuals must repent, turning from self and sin, and turning to Jesus Christ alone to save us. What necessarily follows is a change of mind and character over time that mirrors that of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). This change of mind and character is followed by a change of behavior (Ephesians 2:10b). This change is both simultaneous and progressive; upon regeneration we are new creatures in Christ, and with sanctification we are becoming new creatures in Christ. This progression continues until we become like Him (1 John 3:2, glorification) on the day that we see Him.
What this looks like in the voting booth (and other areas of life) is that we submit our wills and our trust to God who is sovereign. That does not mean that it does not matter who we vote for, because it does. Your choice in the booth is between you and God. Regardless if the candidate can win, you must vote your conscience, which, if you are a Christian, has been converted to Christ.
